Teatro della Fortuna
Fano

The Teatro della Fortuna in Fano, which has as its facade the ancient Palazzo del Podestà from 1299, was built between 1845 and 1863 based on a design by the architect Luigi Poletti, replacing the previous theatre erected by Giacomo Torelli between 1665 and 1677. The current building suffered serious damage during the Second World War in 1944, due to the collapse of the civic tower and fires caused by incendiary fragments. After more than fifty years of closure, in 1998 the theatre was reopened to the public thanks to a long and complex restoration that preserved its historic appearance, but renovated the systems and equipment.
