Teatro Apollo

The Teatro Apollo in Mogliano, overlooking Piazza Garibaldi, is a splendid example of neoclassical architecture with richly decorated interiors. Built in 1837 as the "Teatro delle Esperidi", it was inaugurated in 1844 under the guidance of the architect Feliciano Seri. Later, in 1880, it took its current name and was enriched by frescoes and sculptures created by Luigi Fontana and Luca Seri. After a roof collapse in 1907 and several structural changes, the theater became a movie theater during Fascism. Closed in 1983 due to unfitness, the structure was saved by a citizen mobilization that led to a complex restoration completed in 2004. Today the theatre, with ceilings decorated with Apollo and the Muses, is a cultural symbol that combines tradition and modernity. It has hosted celebrities such as Massimo Girotti and Beniamino Gigli, continuing to be a meeting place for shows and generations.
