Teatro Giuseppe Persiani

The Teatro Persiani in Recanati, inaugurated in 1840 based on a design by Tommaso Brandoni, was dedicated to the musician Giuseppe Persiani. Restored in 1870 and modified in 1923 for opera performances, it boasts excellent acoustics that have hosted prestigious events, such as Mascagni's “Symphonic Poem” conducted in 1898 for Leopardi's centenary, and Beniamino Gigli's performances in Tosca and Bohème. The hall, with 400 seats, includes an stalls area, three tiers of boxes and a gallery. The interior is decorated with gilded stucco and medallions depicting Alfieri, Metastasio, Goldoni and Guido d'Arezzo. The theatre also houses the Museum dedicated to Gigli.
