Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Verdi

Around 1872, the small mask theatre in Pollenza, located in the Palazzo Comunale, was no longer suitable for the needs of the citizens. It was therefore decided to build a new theatre, entrusting the project to Ireneo Aleandri. Thus work began in 1873 and lasted ten years, followed by the architect Francesco Vespignani who took over later, making few changes to the original project and completing it in 1883. It was Aleandri's last work, now elderly and unable to follow the construction site. Originally called the Teatro Comunale, only in the 2000s was it named after Giuseppe Verdi, linked to Pollenza. In front of the theatre is a bronze bust dedicated to Verdi, the only monument in the Marche region in his honour.
