Teatro delle Muse

The Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, designed in neoclassical style by Pietro Ghinelli, was inaugurated in 1827. The theatre hosted more than 3,460 opera productions in 116 years of operation, which were unfortunately interrupted in 1943 due to a British bombing. It was reopened on October 13, 2002, completely renovated according to a design by Danilo Guerri and Paola Salmoni, who harmonized modern elements with the historic façades, emphasizing public spaces such as the atrium and foyer. The large stage portcullis, designed by the sculptor Valeriano Trubbiani, recalls an ancient ship with symbolic bronze decorations. Verdi's Aida with Teresa Stolz and Maria Waldmann and other prestigious productions mark its rich history, along with prose performances and concerts. Today it represents a dialogue between tradition and architectural innovation.
