Teatro Annibale Caro

The Teatro Annibal Caro in Civitanova is located along the main street of the upper city, inside a building previously used for civilian purposes. Designed by Guglielmo Prosperi of Macerata, it was inaugurated in 1872. The hall has two tiers of boxes and a gallery. The ceiling is decorated with a circular frieze of acanthus leaves and medallions, a central rose window and motifs with cherubs and allegorical figures. Located in the historic center, the building has a Renaissance stone portal. Once restored, the theatre was reopened in 1997 and can accommodate up to 400 spectators. It was named after the humanist Annibal Caro, originally from Civitanova.
