Teatro la Rondinella

The Teatro La Rondinella in Montefano was built at the end of the 18th century with a predominance of wooden materials, responding to the growing interest of the people of Montefano in melodrama. At the end of the 19th century, it was redesigned in the Art Nouveau style, using additional materials such as iron. The project was carried out by engineer Virgilio Tombolini, technical director of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The ceiling of the theatre is frescoed by the painter Bruschi, with the muses Thalia and Melpomene, representing comedy and tragedy, and the muses Euterpe and Terpsichore, inspiring lyric poetry and dance. The theatre is located on the upper floor of the Palazzo Comunale, accessible via a grand staircase. An elegant foyer, renamed the Hall of Poets, precedes the entrance to the hall, where you can admire the sumptuous boxes with cast iron railings, similar to precious lace.
