Teatro Comunale

The Teatro Comunale of Campofilone was built between 1928 and 1930 thanks to a public subscription after the Mayor of Campofilone, Mattia Ciarrocchi, donated it to the After-Work Committee. Bricklayers and laborers offered days of free work, while others contributed policies of one hundred lire. The artist Nicola Achilli painted the figure of Apollo on the ceiling of the room, while Aris Ficiarà created wrought iron chandeliers in the shape of dolphins. In 1939 the property was taken over by the National Fascist Party, which occupied it until 1943, when it became a refuge for displaced persons, suffering serious damage. Recently restored, the building has returned to its original splendor and hosts cultural events such as festivals, shows, and concerts.
