Teatro Gentile da Fabriano

In 1692, was inaugurated inside the Palazzo Comunale the first permanent theatre of Fabriano, designed by the Venetian architect Pietro Mauro. In 1717 the Municipality acquired the structure and from 1750 a restoration was started. In 1847 Pietro Ghinelli inaugurated the Teatro Camurio, destroyed by fire in 1863, but in 1884 the new city theatre was inaugurated with a performance of Aida, decorated by Luigi Serra and Luigi Samoggia. It was therefore named after Gentile da Fabriano, composed of four orders of boxes and refined decorative elements. In 1997, the Compagnia del Gentile was recognized, which encouraged youth participation in theatrical art. Today it is considered among the most elegant in the Marche region, and is renowned for its architectural beauty and excellent acoustics.
